Even though it's a very famous painting, I'm still surprised it fetched such a high figure. Pre Raphaelite paintings still don't sell for the kind of prices you'd expect (I constantly see Rossetti sketches at Christies for a few thousand dollars). If I'm ever wealthy, I'll certainly invest in a few!

How many times have I said I wished I'd invested in Victorian art in the 70's and 80's when no one wanted it. I agree its still not perhaps reached its true financial value, but it may to wait a while now.
